The actions we all take to reduce emissions in the next decade will impact the global climate for the next century and beyond. An important part of reducing emissions is pushing to accelerate the speed of the transition to clean energy, and there are actions we can all take to help it go faster. Many of these actions are not only good for reducing emissions, but they are also cheaper and better in many other ways. Helpful individual actions include installing solar, getting an electric car or bike, flying less, reducing meat consumption, and planting trees. But, the climate crisis is such an enormous challenge that it will require big structural change to address, so the single most important action we can all take is to have the courage to become a climate activist and demand that this big structural change happens immediately.

Speaker bio: Beth Hartman has spent the last decade working to support innovation in the energy industry, and looks forward to inspiring other people to help accelerate the transition to a more sustainable global economy in the coming decade. She is currently Manager for the Office of the CEO at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) supporting a variety of initiatives and events including Climate Week in New York City.
