This year marks the 47th anniversary of the slaughter and betrayal of American sailors on the high seas. On June 8, 1967, while on official duty for the United States government, the USS Liberty was attacked by the Israeli Defense Forces in international waters.
A rescue attempt was recalled by the Johnson administration.
