you may have noticed I kind of abandoned the intro idea completely - I think I felt like I needed one because all the cool youtubers have one, but after a while realized that's not the case. so sorry to everyone who participated in the competition, I still love each and every one of them!

world's smallest comfort zone

To be honest if the costumes are accurate but the character is modelled after today's standards of beauty I still feel like I can't fully enjoy a movie. I dont wan't more tan young men, I want to see more mercury poisoned fat men covered in makeup, dammit .

I'm a native English speaker... and sometimes the English just isn't there. Don't feel bad.

Marie Antoinette is just a really good movie to look at. Sofia Coppola wanted it so that when you looked at it that you would think of candy. I can forgive historical fashion inaccuracies for a vision. What really bothers me is when they just totally screw it up because they didn't bother to care.

I've always loved the way Downton Abbey showed the progression of fashion between seasons xx

What I really hate about Keira adaptation of P&P is that she NEVER wears a bonnet or a hat, never to mention gloves. For a woman of that century that was a thing only prostitutes did. Really, even very poor women would cover their hair (Jane Austen did, and she was an unmarried woman). They wanted to portray her as a strong independent woman, but really? the older version was waaaay more accurate that way. And, I´m not talking about underware, wich apparently nearly all designers get wrong

What bothers me from the 2005 P&P version is the horrible hairdos (or lack of hairdos). Lizzie Bennet looks like she never saw a comb in her life which is not historically accurate

Perhaps Great Gatsby? Or other movies inspired in the 20s?

I finally found someone with the same feelings about two versions of Pride and prejudice, jeez. I also like how Darcy in 2005 version looks so miserable in every shot :D Not too accurate, but it was so funny to watch.

Can you do Brooklyn (I think it's from 2015) with Saoirse Ronan? It's set in the 1950s and I LOVE all the costumes

What about Crimson Peak? I'm not sure how accurate the costumes were but they certainly were sumptuous.

Irene Adler did wear men's clothing as a disguise in the book, but all hidden under a large overcoat. No fitted pants haha!

the bbc version of pride and prejudice is my favourite period drama ever. i just love how its so accurate to the book, its pretty much line for line.

I agree with the more romantic tone of the 2015 version, but it's exactly on the wardrobe I find more trouble. The production not only forgets that the Bennets were not that much poor, they forget that a) Jane Austen was very aware of the fashions of her time, ans so are her characters, b) every respectable girl, countryside or not, knows how to sew, therefore can refurbish older clothes to the new fashions, and c) Ms. Bennet is frivolous and would do anything to wear the latest fashions.
