Budgeting, just like staying healthy, is a lifestyle choice more than anything.

Budgeting might not be complicated, but for some people getting control of their money IS that hard! For everybody that saw the light in January, stick with it! Feels great on the other side.

I love budgeting :) My husband and I have a big budget committee meeting at the beginning of the month and then have a quick meeting (usually 5 minutes or so) every Sunday after that just to touch base.
Then of course, I run numbers a few times per week because I’m obsessed πŸ˜‚

C&C - JOURNEY TOWARDS FINANCIAL CLARITY

Budgeting is hard. Especially if you've never budgeted anything before. But man... once you get the hang of it, it makes a huge difference when you're on the debt free journey.

My budget for 2019. My monthly income is 2,300. $750 is left aside for rent, insurance, groceries, taxes (which is next to zero), and car gas and repairs saving. $550 into emergency funds (which is hold in a 2+% saving account). $900 dollars into Roth IRA account. $100 is for me to make free choices. I'm trying to save that up so I could get a bike.

I wonder when there will be an EveryCurrency app for those who live outside the US.

Hahaha I laughed out loud when he said you're going to spend more on food. This is the first month I'm on EveryDollar and I'm scratching my head because even with frugal shopping I was way off. Lolol I'll keep trying

Besides the budget, I think the key is the $1000 emergency fund. It was a revelation to me! If you have that you don't need to use the CC anymore!

Curious. My wife and I live in MD which is extremely expensive to live in. Would you recommend more than $1000 for an emergency fund?
We make about 80k after we remove her student loans out of the budget. She has a car with 180k miles and we dont know if we are gonna need more if a engine or transmission dies

I need to be added to that data point. I was able to get my family out of debit completely by myself! That might explain why I am divorced now. My exwife completely refused to even discuss it and it always resulted in an argument. Even after counseling, nothing helped. You can't help those that do not recognize they have a problem.Well, you already know how that ended. I will dedicate the rest of my days to making sure my daughter learns about financial responsibility so she doesn't follow in her mother's footsteps.
